The Shadowgraph is a term for a photogram on Cibachrome paper. Traditionally speaking a photgram is created by placing objects on silver gelatin paper and creating a B&W print. Several photographers used the method to explore during the Surrealism period of art. I create photograms direct by placing objects on the light sensitive paper as well, but in this case the shadows are color. I am enamored with the smooth transitions of color inside these shadows. They must be similar to the actual light that create shadows of color in the natural that we can’t see. This is the exploration that I was using most frequently in the last phase of my darkroom work.
